To whom this may concern,
Common Ground Cooperative is a non-profit co-operative that is dedicated to improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Since they are generally regarded as being unemployable by mainstream businesses, the Cooperative decided to set up and establish businesses like the Coffee Shed at Surrey Place Centre location so that they can own and operate it with the support of a Job Coach.
Our Coffee Shed at Surrey Place Centre wanted to start an environmentally sustainable system for dealing with coffee grounds and other organic waste produced within the Coffee Shed and Surrey Place Centre. On May 11th 2007 the Coffee Shed teamed up with Cathy’s Crawly Composters to help us start our vermicompost project.
As a non profit organization we had to fundraise for this project to happen. Cathy used her wonderful connections and was able to get all the materials donated to build our own insulated worm bin. Cathy was so passionate about our project from the beginning and we were so happy to take an environmental approach to waste management in our Coffee Shed and Surrey Place Centre with her support.
On Oct 18th Cathy and the Coffee Shed Partners celebrate waste reduction week by officially launching the “Coffee Shed Wiggler Bin”.
It was Cathy’s dedication, passion and enthusiasm for this project that has helped this team to succeed to this day! She gave the partners the opportunity to make an environmental difference which means Cathy is forever a favourite business Partner of this Coffee Shed for life!
If you have any questions about our project and the wonderful support Cathy has provided us please do not hesitate to call us.
