Not every booth was selling items for a profit at this year's CarrotFest.
Tucked in beside Cathy's Crawly Composters's display of vermicomposting
was a tiny table, covered with rocks painted a bright yellow with black
stripes. A sign read, "Bee Happy."
"Me and my sisters painted these rocks, and then we're going to sell
them for a donation to Cancer," said Megan, 12. The recommended donation
to the Canadian Cancer Society for a rock painted to look I like a bee
and "smiley face" was $2.50.
"You, can put them in your garden, or when you go to dinner, you could
give them as a gift," said Megan, persuading passers-by to "Bee Happy."
She raised a total of $131 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
