Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

What's your cellphone angle?

Head weighs about 5kg. The neck supports the weight of the head which, according to the angle of the inclination, increases. The more we look down, the more our heads weigh.

What's more, the support plethora of soft tissues, fascias, muscles, ligaments and tendons becomes tense and tired, which increases tension on joints and discs. If not now, then down the track, this will have an impact on the neck as it gets stiffer and the likelihood of creating problems elsewhere.

Anatomy of a Sprout

What is in them that makes them sooo good?

Sprouts are so high in nutritional value that they are considered nature's Superfood. Packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes and phytochemicals, sprouts have been shown to help digestion, increase energy levels and provide a boost to the immune system.

Protein

Proteins are large molecules made up of hundreds to thousands of amino acids. They perform a vast array of functions within organisms. Proteins are required for the structure, function, and regulation of the body’s tissues and organs. Regulatory proteins are called enzymes.

Their function is encoded in a cell's DNA. DNA provides the recipe (genetic sequence) for creating Proteins and mRNA (messenger RNA) transcribes thin information to create the required Proteins.

"Living things, after all are constructed by the execution of a series of genetic messages encoded in DNA. Genes, the functional units of that genetic program, generally encode proteins, which are the workhorses of the cell. As our exploration of the genomes of humans and other organisms expands, it becomes clear that those proteins can do just about everything required to produce an organism ..."
~ Kenneth Miller

Examples of protein & functions:
(MedlinePlus.gov)

Function

Description

Antibody

Antibodies bind to specific foreign particles, such as viruses and bacteria, to help protect the body.

Enzyme

Enzymes carry out almost all of the thousands of chemical reactions that take place in cells. They also assist with the formation of new molecules by reading the genetic information stored in DNA.

Messenger

Messenger proteins, such as some types of hormones, transmit signals to coordinate biological processes between different cells, tissues, and organs.

Structural component

These proteins provide structure and support for cells. On a larger scale, they also allow the body to move.

Transport/storage

These proteins bind and carry atoms and small molecules within cells and throughout the body.

Amino acids

Amino acids are organic compounds composed of nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.

Your body needs 20 different amino acids to grow and function properly. Though all 20 of these are important for your health, only 9 amino acids are classified as essential

Unlike nonessential amino acids, essential amino acids can’t be made by your body and must be obtained through your diet.

Sprouts are one of the best sources of protein and amino acids.

When you eat protein, it’s broken down into amino acids, which are then used to help your body with various processes such as building muscle and regulating immune function.

Enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that help speed up metabolism, or the chemical reactions in our bodies. Sometime they build substances up and other times they break substances down. All living things have enzymes. Our bodies naturally produce enzymes. But enzymes can also be found in food, like Sprouts.

Enzymes are involved in growth, blood coagulation, healing, diseases, breathing, digestion, reproduction, and many other biological activities.

Minerals

Minerals are important for your body to stay healthy. Your body uses minerals for many different jobs, including keeping your bones, muscles, heart, and brain working properly. Minerals are also important for making enzymes and hormones. There are two kinds of minerals: macrominerals and trace minerals. You need larger amounts of macrominerals. They include calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride and sulfur. You only need small amounts of trace minerals. They include iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride and selenium.
