The Science Club of Ecole Secondaire Le Caron in Penetanguishene, science teacher Chantal Delorme, and the Centre Ecologique de la Mer-Douce started a vermicomposting program in November that will reduce the amount of garbage at the school by about 5 kg. per week.
Vermicomposting uses red wiggler worms to speed up the composting process, and all school personnel and cafeteria staff are participating. The program was put together with help from Cathy's Crawly Composters, of Bradford.
