Tray systems are perfect for those
that do not like to handle the worms or for families
that produce more food scraps than the basic Vermicomposter
can handle. Harvesting the Worm Chalet is clean and
easy. When the worms have finished converting food
scraps and bedding from one tray, add another tray
on top and the worms will make their way up to the
new food source. The lower tray will now consist of
converted castings (worm poo) ready to be used in
your plants and gardens.
Worm Chalet System Includes:
Three stacking trays, lid and base
Each tray has recessed slots to make handling
easy and removable wire bottoms
Initial bedding

* We have researched and tested a number
of layered Vermicomposting systems and have found
The Worm Chalet to be the best of the lot. The stylish
design allows for a smaller footprint while still
processing vast amounts of food scraps. The sturdy
plastic structure will remain stable keep its shape
for years to come. The floor of each layer has a removable
wire mesh that's easy to clean. Recessed slots on
each tray means the layers can be maneuvered with
ease without having to pry the layers apart.
This unit is perfect for apartment/condo balcony composting.
*Note: This is a regular composter - not meant to
be used with worms. Vermicomposting (composting with worms) is
a mesophilic (even temperature) process. Regular or backyard composting
is a thermophilic (heating up) process. Temperatures in a backyard
composter can reach up to 160 (F) degrees or more. If the worms
have no place to escape to they may be cooked (not a pleasant
prospect for the worms). With a ground based unit, the worms can
escape the heat by going down in to the earth. Also, in a rolling
composter all the tumbling action would probably give the poor
creatures a really bad headache.
This Tumbling Composter
is a premier unit with a smart design that makes it
easy to turn and keep the compost aerated. The easy
access sliding door makes loading and emptying a snap.
Moulded blades inside help break up materials and
keeps compost aerobic. Sturdy, galvanized steel legs
hold the unit suspended and will not rust.
Rotating on a stainless steel rod, the
tumbling action of this composter creates an aerobic
environment that makes composting quick and odourless.
A lightweight and durable design, easy
to assemble and convenient. Set it up in your backyard
or on a balcony. Wonderful nutritious compost can
be created in as little as 4 weeks.

"I didn't think the
Sure-Close would be much different from the regular
bin I was already using. Boy, was I wrong.
The Sure-Close compost pail is by far the best collection
container I've ever used. The perforated lid lets the
air flow so the pail is odour free. The lid stays open
when required making the pail easier to use and can
be snapped close with one hand. The opening is angled
making it easier to put food scraps in with less spillage
ending up on the floor or counter. Possibly the most
important feature is the snug interlocking seal and
lid clasp that ensures a tight closure that will keep
fruit flies out!"
Note: This is not a vermicomposter.
It is a compost collection bucket used to collect food
scaps.

Metal water bottles are good alternatives
to their plastic counterparts. Many plastic water bottles
contain the chemical bisphenol A* that has been shown
to be harmful. The durability, heat conductivity and
health benefits of specially made metal water bottles
are important benefits of the metal water bottles.
*(Bisphenol A, or BPA as it's commonly
known, is a synthetic chemical that is the main component
in poly carbonate, the common, shatter-proof plastic
that is used in food and drink containers.)

Dent de Lion
Its name comes from its toothed
leaves - "Tooth of the Lion."
The first time I ever saw a Dandelion
was when it came mixed with flower seeds a friend sent
mother. When it bloomed I thought it was the most beautiful
flower on earth. Sun coloured softness. I weeded and
watered it all summer long until the frost arrived.
Ever since that time, whenever I see a Dandelion I believe
